Baseball Tryouts

by Nick

Today was baseball tryouts for the Bangkok Baseball and Softball Association. My friend Nate Matthews, who goes to the International School of Bangkok (ISB), was gone on vacation to Koh Samui. I met several guys there. First, when Dad and I got out of the cab at ISB we had to get through security and find our way through the school to the fields. When we finally found the fields, Dad and I started to warm up. Then I went to batting practice. The machine was pitching 55 mph! The first kid up to bat was one of the coaches' sons and hit it every time. Everyone else, including me, would maybe hit it twice. After that, I went to the field. First we did grounders, pop flies, and all that. Then there was a station where the coach would hit you pop flies and grounders to field and throw in. Near the end of practice we did pitching. I threw my change-up and my fastball. I would say about 75% were strikes.
After tryouts, my dad and I went to Central Lad Prao to get some cleats. We found a pair kind of quickly, so we went to eat at the Pizza Company. I had a salad bar and a medium pizza that I split with Dad. Then we went home and took a swim.
